Maldives Police Service (MPS) is currently investigating a death threat against Islamic Minister Mohammed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

Police said a letter was submitted to the agency yesterday alleging that the minister had received death threats.

However, police did not disclose any further information.

When contacted by One Online, Minister Shaheem said he did not want to disclose any details.

While Minister Shaheem has received death threats, President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu has also received death threats on social media. Police have since arrested a man and remanded him in custody in relation to that case.
