Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stated that the leaked incident report regarding the death of Wifag Ibrahim Adnan who fell to her death from a building in Male’ City last August, is a fake document.

A document published by Hassan Kurusee on X noted the incident report as stating that although SOCO officers noted that Wifag had been sexually assaulted, they handed over her body to her family as they did not want an autopsy or any further medical examinations done.

The alleged incident report further noted that Wifag's step father, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nazim had lodged a complaint with Maafannu police on three occassions, about the delay in handing over the body. It highlighted Nazim's disapproval upon being informed that the delay is due to the forensic team who were collecting evidence.

Shutting down the rumors, Police said in a statement that the incident report circulating on various social media platforms is not valid.

A special press conference was held on 13th October to disclose details around the death of Wifag. It is notable that Police does not usually share such details and personal information regarding such cases, especially ones ruled out as suicide.

Their press conferences comes after Channel 13 had broadcasted a documentary investigating her death in which huge allegations of sexual abuse were made against her stepfather alongside various allegations against her family.

During the press conference, Police had disclosed a lot of personal information regarding Wifag, which was met with a lot of concerns.

In response, police has stated that they believe that such sensitive information was disclosed in distasteful manner and had apologized for it.

Police said detailed information about the death was disclosed at the press conference following a media report which broadcast included untrue statements about the police and the victim's family.

The information was given after informing the family, including Wifag’s mother and father.
