President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday announced the dismissal of 228 political appointees from various government ministries as part of his administration’s Economic Reform Agenda aimed at reducing government expenditure.
In his post on his official X account, the President stated that over the next 15 days, 7 State Ministers, 43 Deputy Ministers, 109 Senior Political Directors, and 69 Political Directors - a total 228 political appointees - will be removed.
This is projected to save the government Rf 5.714 million each month.
The reduction in political appointments is in line with the President’s efforts to streamline his administration's operations and promote transparency.
