Aishath Azeema has been nominated as the Maldivian Ambassador to India, with her name now being sent to the parliament for approval.

Parliament noted today that the matter has been referred to the Foreign Relations Committee of Parliament for further consideration.

The President has nominated Azeema as the Ambassador to India to replace the incumbent Ibrahim Shaheeb.

Azeema has been holding various positions in various government ministries since 1988.

She has served as Maldivian Ambassador to China and Deputy Ambassador in London. She also served as Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
