The drainage system built by the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure in the IGMH area has been put into operation yesterday.
The Infrastructure Ministry installed a drainage system in the area to solve the problem of flooding in the area.
While the current rains have flooded many areas of the city, it is notable that the IGMH area remained unflooded even though historically the area is prone to the most severe flooding during rainy seasons.
IGMH CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem had also posted a video of the area, showing little to no flooding at all.
"The storm drainage system is working. There is no flooding in the IGMH area," Haleem said.
Construction and Infrastructure Minister Abdullah Muthalib said in a post on X that the drainage system is a temporary solution to the flooding problem.
“This work will not solve the flooding problem completely but it will reduce the difficulties faced by the people until the roads are improved,” he said.
The area where the IGMH is located was not flooded but Kanbaisarani Magu, where the IGMH is located was heavily flooded. The area from the junction of Majeedhee Magu and Kanbaisarani Magu to Hiriya School was flooded last evening.
