The Ministry of Fisheries has announced the opening of applications for this year's Skipper and Reef Fishermen Awards.

In a notification issued on Wednesday, the ministry has called for nominations in three categories: the Best Young Skipper (under 35 years), the Most Experienced Skipper (over 35 years), and the Fisherman Award, which honors individuals exclusively engaged in fishing without any other form of employment.

Nominations can be submitted either by the fishermen themselves or by others on their behalf. The awards will be presented during this year’s Fishermen's Day celebrations.

Eligible applicants must submit their entries via email to the ministry by 1400hrs on November 7. Application forms are available on the ministry’s official website.
