The government will give special priority to empowering private businesses and facilitating new investments, Finance Minister Moosa Zameer said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the India-Maldives Business Forum in Bangalore today, Minister Zameer said the government is working hard to promote government-owned companies and the economic reform agenda.
"The government is also giving special priority to empowering private enterprises, increasing employment opportunities and promoting technology and private innovation. Special efforts will also be made for infrastructure to boost the fisheries sector," he said.
Noting that there are many opportunities for foreign investments in the Maldives, Minister Zameer stated that he is confident that India and Maldives will work closely to realize the economic vision of Presidet Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
"Efforts are also being made to facilitate doing business in the Maldives. The business community of the Maldives and India and the two governments will work together to promote economic development," he said.
Minister Zameer added that the completion of the Velana International Airport (VIA) and Hanimadhoo International Airport will increase tourism investment opportunities.
