The number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives has surpassed 1.5 million so far this year.

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 1,492,031 tourists had visited the Maldives by the end of last month, with an average of 5,500 arrivals per day.

The government has set a target of attracting 2 million tourists by the end of the year. To meet this goal, an additional 500,000 tourists will need to arrive within the remaining weeks of this month and the next two months.

Currently, China leads as the top source of tourist arrivals, followed by Russia and the UK in second and third place, respectively.

At present, the Maldives has 62,908 operational tourist beds available across the country.
