The licenses of three boat captains have been temporarily suspended in connection with a case involving the reckless operation of high-speed launches, police announced on Monday.
According to the police, the licenses were seized on Saturday after an investigation into the incident. Authorities are in the process of forwarding all relevant documents to the Ministry of Transport for further review.
"The ministry will decide on the appropriate permanent action regarding this matter," police said.
The case came to light on Saturday when a video surfaced showing the launches being operated in a dangerous manner. The footage, which was recorded on August 13, captured the boats traveling at high speeds. Following a police investigation, it was determined that the vessels were en route to an atoll at the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and further actions will be determined by the Ministry of Transport based on the findings.
