President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has been formally accorded a ceremonial welcome in India during his official state visit, at the invitation of Indian President Droupadi Murmu.
The ceremonial reception took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the Indian President in New Delhi. Upon his arrival, President Dr Muizzu was warmly received by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Murmu.
The national anthems of both countries were played, followed by a special guard of honour presented in President Dr Muizzu's honour. The ceremony also featured cultural performances by the Indian Army, adding a unique touch to the occasion.
According to the President's Office, President Dr Muizzu is scheduled to meet with President Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, and other senior officials during his visit. The discussions will focus on further strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and India.
President Dr Muizzu is expected to return to the Maldives on Thursday, following the conclusion of his visit.
