President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the Maldives will never take any actions that could compromise India's security interests.

In an interview with The Times of India during his state visit, President Dr Muizzu emphasized that while the Maldives continues to foster relationships with other countries, it remains committed to ensuring regional security and stability.

"India remains one of our largest trade and development partners, and I am confident this will be a very successful trip," President Dr Muizzu stated, reaffirming the strong partnership between the two nations.

He also highlighted the Maldives' ongoing commitment to strengthening ties with India, citing mutual respect and shared interests. While the Maldives follows a "Maldives First" policy, President Dr Muizzu stressed that maintaining close relations with India remains a top priority.

Addressing questions about the Maldives' growing ties with China, the President reiterated his confidence that these engagements will not jeopardize India's security interests.

He also noted that recent cooperation between India and the Maldives points to a positive trajectory in their bilateral relations, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration.
