President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed optimism about the continued growth of relations between the Maldives and China, highlighting the potential for positive outcomes benefiting both nations.
In a letter addressed to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang on the occasion of China’s 75th National Day, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives’ support for the "One-China Policy." He emphasized that this policy aligns with the shared interests of both countries, promoting sovereign equality, territorial integrity, and non-interference in domestic affairs.
In his message to Prime Minister Li, President Dr Muizzu reiterated the Maldives' commitment to enhancing cooperation in various fields of mutual interest. The President’s Office noted that he expressed confidence in further strengthening bilateral ties and elevating the relationship to new levels.
China’s National Day, observed annually on October 1st, commemorates the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
