Drugs worth MVR 282.2 million were seized in the first eight months of this year, police said.

According to the Drug Enforcement Department (DED), 158.8 kg of drugs and 5,252 bottles of liquor were seized in the first eight months of this year. The street value of the items is MVR 282.2 million.

DED's 8 months of work:

- Number of inspections - 8,554

- Number of arrests - 712

- Operations Conducted - 113

- Foreigners handed over to Immigration - 80

During the first eight months of this year, 475 cases were reported to the DED, of which 230 cases were sent to the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) for prosecution.
