The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has re-authorized the banned Cofsy syrup for sale in the Maldives.

MFDA issued an alert regarding the quality of the syrup after it was found to contain a powdery substance, and banned the sale and consumption of the syrup on August 19th.

The MFDA said in an announcement today that samples of the batches of the drug available in the market were taken and further tests were conducted.

"Therefore, as of today, the import, sale, and use of this drug has been approved as before," the MFDA said.

The drug is manufactured by MMC Health Care, a Chennai-based company.
