Police have been stationed in the areas where gangs are active in Malé City and Hulhumalé, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has revealed.

Detailing the work of the Police, CP Shujau said that the police are working to achieve the goal set in the Strategic Plan 2024-2028 to prevent gang crimes.

With the recent change in the structure, a special wing will be established to fight gang crimes and police will be stationed in the areas where gangs are active in Malé City and Hulhumalé, he said.

CP Shujau said a senior police officer from the anti-gang wing will work at the modern communication center set up in Malé City and Hulhumalé to strengthen the fight against gang crimes.

The wings will also monitor the general situation in Malé City and Hulhumalé directly and take decisions immediately, he said.

CP Shujau added that the main purpose is to provide the service as close to the people as possible without stopping, make maximum use of human resources and increase the police presence to make the people feel safe. All police resources are being used to achieve that, he said.
