Opposition MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail has called on Islamic countries to unite to condemn the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and punish Israel.

Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli attack on Hezbollah's headquarters in Lebanon yesterday.

Israel said it identified Nasrallah's building based on intelligence and killed him in heavy air strikes.

Condemning Israel's actions, Fayyaz said hundreds of Lebanese people had been killed by Israel and it was worrying that the world remained silent without any punishment for Israel's atrocities.

Israel's actions could further deteriorate the situation in the Middle East and widen the unrest, he said. He said Israel's daily crimes against Palestinians will result in the region never witnessing stability or peace.

"All the people of the world and the leaders of Muslim countries must unite and stand up against Israel," Fayyaz said.

Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah have been exchanging heavy attacks in recent days.
