President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, during the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

During their discussion, President Dr Muizzu outlined his key objectives, including attracting foreign investments, advancing digital services, and tackling climate change. He also emphasized the need for technical support in public housing and shared his vision to transform Ras Malé into a sustainable, eco-friendly digital city.

The President stressed the importance of enhancing the country's digital infrastructure, particularly to benefit the nation’s youth, who make up 50% of the population. He pointed out the need for full access to global platforms like PayPal, which would empower young entrepreneurs to expand their reach and innovate on a global scale.

In addition to development and economic cooperation, the two leaders discussed shared global interests, with both nations being members of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and deepening strategic cooperation on common issues.
