President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu has met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

This is the first time in a long time that the leaders of the Maldives and Pakistan have not met in this way.

The last time a Maldivian leader met a Pakistani leader was during the official visit of then Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif to the Maldives during the rule of former President Abdullah Yameen.
