The Hijama Clinic operated by Fazila Usman in Hulhumale' has been shut down by the police at the request of the Ministry of Health.

According to the police, the ministry had asked for an investigation into a clinic offering hijama (cupping) services without proper authorisation from the health authorities.

A police spokesperson stated that Fazila Usman, the clinic's owner, is cooperating with the investigation.

The Health Ministry had previously ordered the closure of Fazila’s clinic, but the clinic reportedly continued operating in defiance of the instructions. Last week, the ministry formally requested police assistance to enforce the closure of the "Fazy's Hijama Therapy" center.

On May 11, the Health Ministry had instructed Fazila Usman to cease operations until the clinic was properly registered and obtained an operating license. Despite these directives, the clinic allegedly continued offering services. The ministry’s statement at the time noted that they had met with Fazila to address complaints and clarify the legal requirements for operating such a clinic.

In addition to shutting down the clinic, the ministry also directed the removal of social media advertisements promoting the services. Concerns were raised about the accuracy and safety of medical reports issued by the clinic, as they had not been vetted by the ministry.

This is not the first time the clinic has faced such issues. In 2019, the Health Ministry had issued a similar order, requiring the clinic to obtain proper registration and licensing before offering hijama services, but the clinic had continued its operations without compliance.
