A delegation from FIFA arrived in the Maldives on Monday, ahead of a meeting with the Normalization Committee, which is temporarily in charge of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
FAM General Secretary Mohammed Jaushan Sharif (Jau) told One Sports that a four-member team is scheduled to conduct meetings on the work of the normalization committee. Two of them arrived in the Maldives today, while the others will arrive tomorrow.
FIFA has handed over the management of the FAM to a normalization committee, chaired by Ahmed Zuhoor. Zuhoor recently met with the media, revealing that the association is facing a systemic failure and that reviving the agency is a big challenge.
Former President of FAM, Bassam Adeel Jaleel, and his team are still being investigated for allegedly embezzling FAM funds.
Zuhoor further stated that the Normalization Committee has been tasked with getting the association back on track within a year. He highlighted that FIFA will provide all necessary support in reviving the agency.
