STO has clarified that the video being circulated on social media, which show discarded flour in Addu City, were disposed of due to damage rendering them unusable.

A video circulating online claims that the discarded flour, reportedly imported from Turkey by STO, had not expired and could still be used by the people of Addu for another six to eight months.

Yusuf Shah, STO’s Corporate Branding Officer, explained to One that the video shows flour shipments that were sent to the southern region over multiple occasions. He emphasized that the discarded flour wasn’t exclusively from Turkish batches.

"Since the damage to the flour was beyond usable condition, it was removed following standard procedures," Shah further stated.
