The state has received over MVR 1 billion in resort rent as of August this year, according to figures released by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).

According to the August revenue report released by MIRA, resort rent stood at MVR 1.05 billion or USD 68.8 million from January to August this year.

That is nine percent more than the MVR 965 million received during the same period last year.

While total figures stood at MVR 1.05 billion for the year, te government received more than MVR 29.6 million or USD 1.9 million from resort rents in August this year.

This is 42 percent lower than the same period last year. In August last year, a total of MVR 51 million or USD 3.3 million was received in rent.
