Mohamed Dawood, who was the Chief Superintendent of Police, has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Dawood was promoted to the post by Home Minister Ali Ihusan.
Dawood, who is currently the head of the Hulhumalé Police Station, has held many senior police positions and has served in the police service for many years.
He has also served as the Chief of Road Police, Detective Investigation Officer and Deputy Head of the Drug Enforcement Department.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police is the highest rank of administrative promotion in the police force. The ACP is the third highest rank after the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner.
