A man has been arrested for impersonating Maldives Immigration Officers and robbing an immigrant.

According to the police, three people entered an accommodation housing immigrants, pretending to be Immigration officers, and robbed a Bangladeshi man of a mobile phone and MVR 9,000.

Police have arrested 44-year-old Mohamed Naveen on a court order in relation to this case.

In a post on X today, Immigration Controller Mohamed Shaman Waheed said that the IDs of the officers will be visible during the immigration raids. He added that the current operations are being carried out in uniform.
