The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is proving that he can rule without oppressing his political rivals and without becoming an autocratic leader.

In a press release issued on the occasion of Democracy Day, the PNC said the President is setting a good example for the people of the Maldives by ending the evils of revenge, personal anger, hatred and jealousy.

They also said that the President has ended the tradition of using state institutions to retaliate against political rivals and spread anger and hatred.

"(The President) has enabled all political parties and leaders to compete freely through the democratic system. He is proving every day that he can rule in peace and harmony while maintaining a competitive environment without initiating violence and autocracy," the PNC said.
