Health Protection Agency (HPA) has denied reports that a case of Mpox has been detected in the Maldives.

HPA said that the rumours circulating on social media about a case of Mpox being detected in Hulhumale' are false. The agency said no case has been recorded in the country so far.

The ampox caused by the outbreak was first detected in the African country of Congo. The disease has now been detected in several Asian countries, including In India.

Due to the rapid spread of the disease, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the disease as a public health emergency or a public health emergency in August.
