Maldives Parliament has decided to hold a second extraordinary session on Monday.
Only one item has been on the agenda so far for the session, which is the preliminary debate on the Companies Act Amendment Bill, moved by Feydhoo MP Ismail Nizar on behalf of the government.
An extraordinary session of the Parliament was held yesterday to begin the process of appointing a new Prosecutor General as well.
The meeting was held to seek the approval of the Parliament for the appointment of Abbas Shareef for PG as nominated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The name was referred to the Judiciary Committee for further consideration.
Abbas Shareef is currently the Legal Secretary to the President at the President's Office.
In addition, the first reading of the Companies Act Amendment Bill was also held in the session. The meeting was held as the deadline for nominations for the post of prosecutor expired at 12:00 noon that day.
