The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said that 22 locals and 15 foreigners were affected in the fire that broke out at the Gaamagu Cafe in Sosun Magu today.
The fire broke out at the Gaamagu Cafe today and was extinguished with the assistance of the authorities. A video of the fire has been circulating on social media, showing the fire on the top floor of the cafe.
Police said two people who were on the road at the time of the fire were taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation. They were a foreign woman and a man, police said.
The NDMA said in a post on X tonight that 37 people were affected by the fire.
"These include 22 locals and 15 foreigners. The authority is currently providing humanitarian assistance to these people," the NDMA said.
Police and the MNDF have not yet revealed the cause of the fire.
