The number of tourist arrivals from China to the Maldives this year has crossed the 200,000 mark.

According to the Tourism Ministry, 202,613 tourists arrived in the Maldives from China as of yesterday. This amounts up to 15 percent of the 1.3 million tourist arrivals so far this year.

The top source markets after China are:

  • Russia: 149,920 arrivals
  • United Kingdom: 119,189 arrivals
  • Italy: 102,000 arrivals
  • Germany: 97,804 arrivals
  • India: 83,045 arrivals

Statistics show that the number of tourists arriving in the Maldives in the last three months has increased compared to the same period in the previous two years.

The government aims to attract two million tourists this year.
