The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 12 years in jail for having sex with a child.

The prosecution has filed a case against Raa Atoll Makurath, Image, Mohammed Dawood.

He was convicted and sentenced to 12 years in prison under Article 3(n) of the Special Procedures Against Child Sexual Offenders Act.

The prosecution also charged him with sexual assault with a minor and possession of nude photos and videos on his cell phone under Section 622(h)(7) of the Penal Code.

However, the Criminal Court ruled that the charge of possession of pornography was not proved against him.
