A young man has died after being injured in a motorcycle-car collision in the city on Wednesday night.

The accident occurred at 12:53 pm on Wednesday night when a car collided with a bicycle at the junction of Boduthakurufaanu Magu and Koimala Magu.

It is learned that the deceased was identified as Mohammed Leevan, 21, of Gaafu Dhaalu Gaddhoo.

Leevan sustained serious injuries in the accident and was being treated on a ventilator at the IGMH emergency room.

A family member told One Online that Leevan died at 2:10 pm last night.

He died two days after doctors gave up hope on his survival.

A witness told One Online that the young man, who was driving a black Exciter 135 CC, lost control and hit a blue taxi. The taxi and the motorcycle were seriously damaged when a motorcycle hit the front door of the tax. The young man on the bicycle was also knocked down.

"He was bleeding a lot from his face and had bruises," they added.

A young man also died in a car-motorcycle collision in Hulhumalé last Friday.
