A man who entered a school and threatened teachers has been remanded in custody for another 10 days.

Ali Ahmed of Ma. Kandooge was arrested in connection to the case. He was previously remanded in custody for 30 days.

Citing Article 49 of the Constitution and Criminal Procedure Act, the Criminal Court extended his remand for another 10 days for possible danger to public safety. IO further noted that they were in discussions with the Prosecutor General’s Office on charging him.

The court order also said that sufficient evidence has been submitted that he committed the alleged offence.

The court order also added that he has a number of criminal records and this is a case of entering a school classroom and threatening teachers in front of a student. However, the perpetrator said it was an emotional mistake and apologized for the crime.

According to his criminal records, he was also charged with smuggling 72 kilograms of drugs into the Maldives previously.
