President Dr, Mohamed Muizzu has ordered the seizure of licenses and towing of vehicles for those who drive faster than the speed limit.

In a post on X, the President released the instructions issued to the relevant institutions today to make the roads a safer place for all.

These include the immediate revocation of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) permission to use a certain area of ​​Hulhumalé for racing and drifting and the immediate stopping of vehicles driving faster than the speed limit and the confiscation of the driver's license and vehicle.

The President also ordered changes in the laws and regulations to ban the importation of such devices to prevent road vehicles driving from a certain horsepower and above and replace the silencers of road vehicles to prevent loud driving.

The President further ordered the installation of speed breakers, and speed detection cameras in 150 areas of Hulhumalé, the introduction of a graduating license system, and the deduction of points from the licenses of illegal drivers.

The President also ordered the police to expand their efforts to enforce traffic rules.
