Male' City Council has announced the lower portion of Aasahara Miskiy for Friday prayers.

In a post on X after visiting Aasahara to review the preparations for the opening, Male' city Mayor Adam Azim said that Aasahara will be opened for funerals by the end of the month.

"We hope this will put an end to the inconveniences faced by the people who have to travel from Male' to Hulhumale' to hold the last rites of their loved ones," Azim said.

Aasahara was closed for repairs in May last year.

Briefing the media about the renovation work of the Asahara Miskiy, Azim had earlier said that the construction work had to be taken away from the company which was initially entrusted with the work as the structure work was not being carried out properly. Since then, the construction of the Aasahara Miskiy has been delayed due to various changes in its painting, he said.

A total of MVR 71.7 million has been spent on the renovation of the Aasahara Miskiy, Azim said.
