The body of Adam Athuhar, 32, who committed suicide after being arrested for holding a woman hostage at knife-point, has been sent to India for an autopsy today.

Police said Athuhar's body was taken to India early this morning and that an autopsy will be conducted tomorrow.

Police said Athuhar was found dead at 19:02 pm on Monday, inside the jail cell where he was being held. He was rushed to the Emergency Room of IGMH 23 minutes later.

Athuhar died at 16:08 on Tuesday, while being treated at the ICU.

Athuhar, held a woman hostage at knife-point and attempted to evade arrest last Thursday night, and was later injured when the police crept up behind him and hit his head with a baton in order to rescue the victim.

Police revealed that Athuhar had been through several medical examinations, including a consultation with a neurologist, all of which have cleared him and has not identified any serious issues.

One Online can confirm reports that Athuhar and his girlfriend had money issues. Athuhar is reportedly a drug addict who also has a record of several crimes.
