The remand of two Malaysians arrested for drug trafficking in Maldives has been extended to 30 days.

Malaysia's Koh Huan Boon and Ng Tham Lip were initially remanded in custody for five days.

However, the two were produced before the Criminal Court on Wednesday for an extension of their remand. They were ordered to be remanded in custody for 30 days each.

However, the Court also ordered authorities to make arrangements for Koh Huan Boon to meet with his appointed lawyer as it was noted he had been unable to meet his lawyer during the initial 5-day remand.
