Former vice president (VP) Ahmed Adeeb has said that former VP Dr. Jameel played a significant role in bringing former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's tenure to an end.

Adeeb made the statement in response to the speech by Dr. Jameel at PNF's rally during which he accused Adeeb of orchestrating the Finifenma Launch explosion.

Adeeb said that Dr. Jameel formed the Maldives United Opposition (MUO) in 2015 to overthrow Yameen's government.

"I was in prison when Dr. Jameel formed MUO to overthrow Yameen's government and made me an advisor," Adeeb said.

Yameen's government saw three VP's in his 5-year term - Dr. Jameel, Adeeb, and Abdulla Jihad.
