Police have said that Adam Athuhar is on ventilator support following a suicide attempt while in custody.

Police said that Athuhar was taken to the hospital and received medical attention in the Intensive Care Unit at IGMH. He is currently on ventilator support.

Adam Athuhar, 32, held a woman hostage at knife-point and attempted to evade arrest, and was later injured when the police crept up behind him and hit his head with a baton in order to rescue the victim.

Police revealed that Athuhar had been through several medical examinations, including a consultation with a neurologist, all of which have cleared him and has not identified any serious issues.
