Maldives Customs Service has seized drugs worth MVR 1 million that were being smuggled into the Maldives via post.

Customs sources said the consignment was concealed in four packages brought to the country by post on August 20. Among the packages, a synthetic cathynone, a narcotic substance, weighing a total of 666 grams was found, Customs sources said.

Customs also seized cathynone from the luggage of a Dutch national who arrived here this month. This time, the street value of the 6kg of contraband seized would be MVR 9.1 million, customs sources said.
