The President's Office has opened applications for the vacant post of Prosecutor General (PG).
The PG post fell vacant after Hussain Shameem, who had earlier held the post, resigned on Thursday after the Parliament's decision to dismiss him.
According to a notification issued by the President's Office today, the application process for the post of PG is open till May 11.
The eligibility criteria for the post include being a citizen of the country who has attained the age of 25 years, not been proven to have committed a crime or fraud or bribery as prescribed in Islam, not holding an elected or appointed political office, and not being a member of a political party.
Candidates should have a minimum first degree in law, have at least four years of experience working in the field of judicial and legal in the country, and should not hold a stake or position in a company or partnership or any other such institution related to the legal profession. and being a person who is up to the intellect.
A person will be appointed to the post of PG on the basis of the procedure approved by the Parliament when the President sends his nomination to the Parliament.
Shameem, who was earlier the PG, was dismissed on the grounds that he had withdrawn some serious cases related to the previous government officials in violation of rules.
