STELCO has revealed that they are working to develop EV car charging stations.

STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmee said in a post on X today that the decision to build such a station was taken by the President Dr Mohammed Muizzu’s pursuit of a strong environmental policy to reduce carbon footprint.

He further added that STELCO will not only be supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles but also reinforcing the Maldives’ commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation.

Fahmee said the work of building the station on Dhonadhaaradha Road adjacent to STELCO's head office is already underway and the city council will be in consultation with the company on the development of the station.

The station will be used for four wheels and two-wheelers.
