President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday asked for an amendment of rules and regulations that pave way for discrimination at workplaces based on attire, as long as it does not violate Islamic principles.

"It is necessary to change all the rules and regulations that were made in the past and are still in force that lead to discrimination. The authorities have now been asked to do so," he said.

The President added that everyone should resolve to make this society a society that promotes justice and fairness in all senses.

The President's order comes amid various issues of employment and dismissal of employees adorning the hijab.
