Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned the sale and consumption of 'Cofsy' cough syrup, effective Monday.

MFDA issued an alert regarding the quality of the syrup after it was found to contain a powdery substance.

The Authority is running further tests on the medication and in the meantime, the medication remains banned for use and sale in the Maldives, MFDA said.
