Immigration has detained 22 illegal migrants, the Authority has said.
In a post on X on Sunday, Immigration said that following intel received by 'Immigration Watch', the Authority raided Heenaamaage parking area on Saturday. Fourteen immigrants were detained by Immigration from the area.
Additionally, following a lead by Male' City Council regarding an accommodation block housing migrant workers in Maafannu, Immigration conducted a search and 8 immigrants without legal documents were also taken into custody.
Police and Immigration have launched a special operation to track illegal immigrants in the Maldives.
Since then, a large number of migrant workers have been detained and multiple businesses run by immigrants have been shut down.
Immigration officials had previously said that 2,013 illegal immigrants had been deported in the last eight months.
