Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal has said that priority would be given to promote tourism in Addu city.

Inaugurating a summit titled 'Destination Addu 2024' in Addu to develop a full city brand and promote Addu as a premier brand, Minister Faisal said that there are still signs of the British presence in Addu and it has been decided in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage to maintain the area and promote it for tourism.

"Addu will be promoted to a great extent, especially for the British market," the Minister said.

He said that the city council has also decided to participate in the WTM Fair in the UK and promote Addu.

Minister Faisal said that Addu has potential for tourism as the city has a full and vibrant history.

He further said that direct flights should be routed to Addu City to make the resorts operational. The Minister added that special efforts were being made to make Shanri-La operational as well.
