President's Office (PO) has revealed that Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef's visit to Paris, France, and Iran cost MVR 1.8 million.

According to PO, VP accepted an invitation to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games as it was the first time a Maldivian athlete had qualified and participated in the Olympics.

The trip cost MVR 1.34 million, PO said.

Following the visit, VP arrived in Iran to attend the oath ceremony of the new president, where he also met with the country's top officials and local in the country.

According to PO, the state spent MVR 4,64,617 on the visit.
