The President has formed a task force to find immediate solutions to the current rains that have disrupted the lives of the people across the country.

Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Heena Waleed said in a post on X that the special task force is chaired by the President.

The members of the special task force are:

- Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon

- Home Minister Ali Ihusaan

- Education Minister Ismail Shafiu

- Health Minister Abdullah Khaleel

- Environment Minister Thorig Ibrahim

- Cities, Local Government and Public Works Minister Adam Shareef Umar

- Presidents Office Chief of Staff Abdullah Fayaz

- Chief of Defense Force, Major General Ibrahim Hilmy

- Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau

The President has also declared tomorrow a government holiday due to the rain.

Heena said the President has declared tomorrow as a holiday to provide relief to commuters and students who are facing difficulties in traveling and walking due to heavy rains.

Heena added that the government will continue to give special priority to reduce the damage caused to families and houses due to the rains.

The rains are also causing floods in some islands, while continuous rains have caused heavy flooding in some islands.

There is also continuous rainfall in the city, which has caused heavy flooding in some areas. MNDF is working to drain water from the roads.
