President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday stated that the Malé City Road Reconstruction Project will provide a permanent solution to the flooding problem in the city.

In a post on X, the President said the government will continue to prioritize assisting those affected by the rains in the city.

The President said the necessary efforts to reduce the damage to public life, houses and property during the rains will be carried out, essentially providing a relief to such issues.

"One of the most important objectives of the road reconstruction project is to solve the city's flooding problem. When the project is completed, a permanent solution will be provided to the flooding problem," he said.

In addition, the road construction projects in many islands of the Maldives will be carried out as planned every year, he said.

Heavy rains across various parts of the country on Tuesday has caused flooding and several damages to the public. Maldives Meteorology has forecasted the weather to continue over the next few days.
