Parliament's Judiciary Committee has approved recommendations to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to dismiss four members of the Tax Appeal Tribunal.

The removal of four of the five members of the Tax Appeal Tribunal was approved at the committee's meeting on Tuesday, after examining the complaint filed by its member Ismail Sajid in the committee, which included measures to be taken to improve the functioning of the tribunal.

The judiciary committee kept the meeting confidential.

Hulhudhoo MP Abdul Sattar Mohamed proposed to remove the remaining four members of the tribunal, except Sajid, who had filed a complaint with the committee.

The committee unanimously approved the removal of the Tribunal's president Mohamed Munawwar Ali, the Tribunal's vice-president Hussain Zaidhan Jaleel, member Ahmed Ashraf and member Khadeeja Naeem.

The committee also approved recommendations to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the cases against the members.
