Parliament's Regulations Review Committee has decided to summon Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skill Development to discuss the formulation of rules to be framed under the Education Act.

At Committee meeting held this morning, the Committee's Chair, Thulusdhoo MP Ibrahim Naseem, stated the laws to be framed by the two ministries under the Education Act. Two out of the eight regulations framed by the Ministry of Education so far have clashes, the MP noted.

These regulations include the rules to ensure the quality of the education system and the standards of school teachers.

MP Naseem also pointed out that the Committee was in favour of summoning the Ministries to the Committee to discuss the regulations.

When Vilufushi MP Hassan Waheed proposed to summon the members of the two ministries to the committee, seconded by Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarak, Committee members voted in favour of summoning the ministries.

The Committee members also expressed concern over the fact that some of the rules to be framed under the Education Act are yet to be framed.
